Treating Skin Redness and Sensitivity
Nothing is more frustrating than having sensitive skin that is
constantly red and irritated. The problem is that you can't even put anything on your face to try to
correct it because you are pretty sure you will have a bad reaction to it.
The indications for skin redness and
sensitivity are pretty obvious: flushing, burning skin, Eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, reactive
skin, chafing after shaving or “razor burn”.
What's the Real Cause of Sensitive Skin?
Healthy skin can be compared to a window screen where everything is tightly held together and nothing can get
past what's called the "lipid barrier". When openings in the barrier occur, it means irritants are getting through
and causing the inflammation and irritation which results in unhealthy skin.
Some of the causes for unhealthy skin are genetic, but they can also come from
environmental stressors and allergies. For people who suffer from a sensitive skin condition,
they really need skin care that is pretty pure; i.e. no fragrance, no soap or surfactants, no alcohol and
no artificial colors.
It's pretty hard to find a skin care product that meets all those conditions and still does the job of
cleaning and mosturizing your skin. Yes, you could use some of the organic skin care
products but the problem there is that most are really expensive and their shelf life is not very long.
There is one product you can try that comes from a flower. It was originally developed and
tested to see if it would help with cancer patients but it was revealed that it had skin care benefits. It may help
with your sensitive skin!
